Week 4 (part 2): Game Ideas

In this secondary devlog we'll go over some simple game ideas, which are here for later use in any groupwork I do... Well, if they're desperate enough to actually use these ideas, that is.

Here they are:

  • Idea 1: INDUCTIVE SEASONING (good pun)

A puzzle game based on the seasons; with control over which season effects the scene, the player must use environmental effects in order to solve puzzles: freeze water, melt it, grow plants, kill them. This could be either top-down, side-scrolling, or even 3D.

    Audience: Puzzle-gamers, mostly.

I think this could potentially be a fun concept that encourages out of the box thinking.

Prototype Goal: A working puzzle room, or two.

  • Idea 2: CHRONICLE GUN

A top-down shooter where you're stuck in a time loop. Each past life of yours is alive, and shooting! Can you make it through the level and survive, whilst fighting for your life?

    Audience: Fast-paced, shooter enjoyers.

It would be a rather complicated thing to actually beat, and also to program, but I imagine this would be a nice, exciting game.

Prototype Goal: Mechanics created, with a playable mission.
